Fr. Simon Braganza was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, India in April 1992. After serving three years as vice-principal of St Mary’s School, the very school he attended, he was briefly the secretary to the Archbishop of Hyderabad. He was then appointed Associate Pastor of a parish for two months and then as Pastor of a parish for 15 months.
In June of 1997, he was sent to pursue a Masters Degree in Sacred Scripture and came to the United States in August of 1999. He was appointed Associate Pastor of St Henry’s Parish in Chicago while he continued his studies in Scripture at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago.
In July of 2002, Father Simon was appointed Associate Pastor of St. Tarcissus parish in Chicago. In April of 2009, he petitioned Cardinal George to be incardinated into the Archdiocese of Chicago. Later that year, July 2009, he was appointed as Associate Pastor of Queen of All Saints Parish. He was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Chicago in June of 2012. He served as Administrator of this parish from January 2017 to June 2017. In March of 2018, Cardinal Cupich appointed him the 8th Pastor of Queen of All Saints Basilica.
